"DNA 11" , cette société fondée en 2005 par Adrian Salamunovic et Nazim Ahmedbasé et basée à Ottawa (Canada) et Miami (U.S.A.), propose de réaliser un tableau d'art abstrait à partir d'un échantillon de votre code ADN.
Il suffit d'extraire quelques cellules de la joue avec un coton tige et d'envoyer l'échantillon à leur laboratoire qui pourra alors créer une empreinte génétique unique à partir de l'ADN extrait.
L'échantillon ADN sera teint dans un ton fluorescent, exposé à la lumière U.V., photographié puis retouché numériquement en appliquant des filtres et des couleurs et imprimé comme une oeuvre d'art sur une toile de polyester coton de haute qualité sans acide en utilisant des encres pigmentées résistantes à la décoloration. Pour finir, vernissage à la main et un filtre anti jaunissement est appliqué pour en prolonger la vie.
"DNA 11" was founded in 2005 by Adrian Salamunovic and Nazim Ahmed, both who have a passion and appreciation for the arts, as well as the vision and determination to transform DNA into unique art.
DNA 11 creates unique, high-end digitalized art from DNA. Using a simple method of collection, as easy as wiping the inside of your mouth with a swab, the company harvests a sample of your DNA to capture the genetic fingerprint and transform it into an artistic representation of a person's life code.
The end result is a group of different sized pieces of DNA (unique per individual), which they "run" on a gel, such that each strand of different sized DNA is separate. The DNA is stained with a fluorescent dye and illuminated by UV light, causing it to glow, giving off a fluorescent signal.
A special camera captures the image, which is then digitally enhanced, cropped, color adjusted, adding colors and filter effects.
Each piece is carefully processed to ensure the highest level of quality, and is then printed as a Giclee fine art piece. The art is made using high quality acid free polyester-cotton canvas, using pigmented inks designed to resist fading. It is then hand varnished and sealed with a non-yellowing protective finish to further prolong the print life.

Since the initial success of our DNA Portraits™, DNA 11 introduced custom art from fingerprints too.
DNA 11 sends you a FingerPrints collection kit that includes everything you’ll need: a Fingerprint collection card, easy to use ink strips, and step-by-step directions. Once you’re done you just send the kit back to DNA 11’s art studio.
DNA 11 will scan it using a special high resolution scanner. The scanned image is then traced in a separate program and the image is adjusted by hand so that every ridge on your finger is clearly illustrated. We then take this electronic image and magnify it up to 4000% to create your custom art piece.

ABSOLUT VODKA was so impressed when they were introduced to the art, that they commissioned a piece featuring the DNA of several fruits used in ABSOLUT products. This piece, unveiled at the DNA 11 official art launch, is the company's first commissioned art for a commercial client and truly showcases the uniqueness of the artwork.
