Shahee Ilyas, un étudiant en media design originaire des Maldives, qui étudie actuellement aux Pays-Bas au Piet Zwart Institute , a crée ces graphiques à secteurs à partir des couleurs des drapeaux.
Chaque part des "camemberts" est proportionnelle à la surface de chaque couleur du drapeau.
Utilisant une liste de pays provenant du World Factbook database, chaque drapeau est analysé par un script Python afin de calculer les proportions de couleurs pour chacun d'eux.
Enfin, les proportions de couleurs des drapeaux sont finalement utilisées pour générer un graphique représentant la combinaison de tous les pays.
Shahee Ilyas, a media designer from The Maldives, curently studying in The Netherlands at The Piet Zwart Institute, created these piecharts by slicing and dicing flag color data.
Each sector of these piecharts is proportional to the area of the colour on the respective flag.
Using a list of countries generated by The World Factbook database, flags of countries fetched from Wikipedia are analyzed by a custom made python script to calculate the proportions of colours on each of them.
That is then translated on to a piechart using another python script.
The proportions of colours on all unique flags are used to finally generate a piechart of proportions of colours for all the flags combined.
