Basée à Londres, United Visual Artists est une société qui réalise et produit des performances vidéos ainsi que des environnements graphiques interactifs pour des évènements "Live".
Ils utilisent aussi bien les LED que l'éclairage traditionnel et les techniques de projection comme éléments de sculpture visuelle.
Leur aspiration est de travailler sur des projets très variés dans la sphère commerciale ou non commerciale et de collaborer avec un large éventail d'artistes et de sociétés.
Based in London, United Visual Artists's approach combines three disciplines: art direction, production design and software engineering.
Their philosophy is "to integrate these elements to deliver real-time, immersive and responsive experiences".
They work equally with LED, traditional lighting and projection technologies as sculptural elements.
They aim to work on a diverse and expanding range of projects, drawn from the commercial and non-commercial arenas, and to collaborate with a wide range of artists and companies.

Rio Body Count
S'inspirant du site américain Iraqbodycount qui compte les victimes de la guerre en Irak, deux brésiliens, Vinicius Costa, 25 ans, et Andre Dahmer, 32 ans, ont crée le site Riobodycount afin d'alerter l'opinion publique sur la montée et la banalisation de la violence à Rio de Janeiro.
Le but du site est de mettre une pression sur les autorités pour agir contre cette guerre urbaine qui recense, depuis le 1er février 2007, date de lancement du site, 128 morts et 65 blessés!
Andre Dahmer a récemment indiqué sur le site de BBC News que "leur espoir était de voir la paix et la justice sociale s'imposer durablement".
Il ne croit pas en une paix imposée par la seule force des armes.
Vinicius Costa, 25 years old, and Andre Dahmer, thirty-two, inspired by US site Iraqbodycount that keeps count of the victims of the war in Iraq, have just created Riobodycount.
They decided to shake up public opinion with a very upsetting count: the dead of the urban war that daily shakes Rio de Janeiro.
Since February 1st, 128 people have died and 65 have been wounded, according to the latest report from Riobodycount.
The site's aim is to provoke discussion and put pressure on the authorities to act.
Andre Dahmer recently said on BBC News website that "their hope was to see a lasting peace and social justice in Rio, not a peace imposed by force of arms".

Elle possède des fonctions multimédias telles que lecteur et enregistreur video, lecteur MP3 et un album photo (cadran amovible).
Inutile d'aller au Swatch Store le plus proche car la Swatch Infinity reste pour l'instant à l'état de concept et n'est pas encore disponible à la vente.
Designed by Pierre Merlet, the Swatch Infinity is a PMP (Portable Media Player) concept watch with a futuristic look.
It offers you a video recorder, a MP3 player and a photo album (removable face).

Neolithic Embrace - Etreinte Neolithique

Des archéologues viennent de découvrir deux squelettes enlacés datant du Néolithique, à Mantova, près de Verone en Italie.
D'après Elena Menotti, l'archéologue qui a mené les fouilles, les squelettes seraient ceux d'un homme et d'une femme, assez jeunes (leurs dents étant intactes), enterrés il y a plus de 5000 ans.
"C'est un découverte unique" a déclaré Elena Menotti à l'Associated Press. En effet, c'est la première fois que l'on découvre un double enterrement datant du Néolithique et la position des deux corps enlacés est encore un mystère.
Ces ossements vont maintenant être éxaminés pour dater précisément leur époque et pour connaître l'âge qu'avait les deux squelettes lors de leur enterrement.
Archeologists have just discovered two embraced skeletons from the Neolithic period, in Mantova, near Verona, Italy.
According to Elena Menotti, the archelogist who led the team, the Neolithic couple are believed to have been a man and a woman and are thought to have died young, because their teeth were found intact.
''As far as we know, it's unique,'' Elena Menotti told The Associated Press. ''Double burials from the Neolithic are unheard of, and these are even hugging.''
"Experts will now study the artifacts and the skeletons to determine the burial site's age and how old the two were when they died", she said.

Orbital Junk Map - Carte des Debris en Orbite
Le New York Times vient de publier un article intéressant sur les débris en tous genres qui gravitent autour de la Terre.
Une série de cartes provenant du Center for Space Standards and Innovation vous montre comment la destruction récente d'un satellite météo chinois a ajouté quelques millions de débris supplémentaires dans notre orbite terrestre déjà bien polluée!
Vous pouvez voir ci-dessous différentes images générées par les computers de la N.A.S.A. qui offrent une bonne visualisation de l'ensemble des objets en orbite autour de la Terre.
The New York Times recently published an article called "Littered Skies" about all the debris gravitating the Earth.
A serie of maps from the Center for Space Standards and Innovation show how the recent destruction of a Chinese weather satellite added millions of debris to an already polluted orbit.

Amazon Swim Attempt by Martin Strel
Martin Strel, un nageur de marathon Slovène, détenteur de trois records dans le livre Guinness des Records (descente du Danube sur 3000 km, descentes complètes du Mississippi et du Yangtsé) vient de se lancer un nouveau défi: l'Amazon Swim
Projet qui consiste à descendre l'Amazone à la nage depuis Atalaya au Perou, jusqu'à son embouchure sur l'Océan Atlantique à Belém au Brésil.
Il prévoit de nager les 5430 km en 70 jours!
Il vient de s'élancer le 1er février sur ce fleuve au débit monstrueux, peuplé de Piranhas, crocodiles, anacondas et autres candiru (poisson vampire), avec l'espoir d'attirer l'attention sur la préservation de la forêt Amazonienne.
Il souhaite aussi promouvoir l'usage de la télémédecine pour les endroits isolés.

Swimming all the way from Atalaya (Peru) to the Atlantic Ocean at Belém (Brazil).
He is planning to complete the 3,375 mile adventure in 70 days!
Martin Strel has just started his new adventure on February 1st, ready to face the Amazon's enormous flow, inhabited by piranhas, crocodiles, anacondas and candiru (vampire fish).
"He has dedicated this swim to the preservation of the rainforest, to raising awareness for Alzheimer´s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, and to promoting telemedicine as a valuable tool in bringing modern medicine to remote areas".

Pour la première fois, eJamming AUDiio va permettre aux musiciens, acoustiques ou electroniques, de jouer ensemble, de façon synchronisée, en temps réel sur Internet.
Ce programme offrira la possibilité à deux, voire quatre musiciens de jouer ensemble, d'enregistrer, de répéter et d'écrire.
eJamming AUDiio utilisera un réseau Peer to Peer pour échanger les signaux audio entre les ordinateurs des musiciens, éliminant de ce fait les temps de latence.
Grâce à de nouveaux algorithmes, ce programme offrira une parfaite synchronisation entre les participants.
eJamming AUDiio sera disponible courant Mars 2007 à un coût de $14.95 par mois ou $150 par année.

Un jeu en flash, très simple, réalisé par le designer anglais Alan Outten, plus connu pour avoir crée le plus petit site web du monde:
guimp.com (Pong, news, galerie, blog...) et tout cela dans dix pixels carré!
Pixel Students me fait penser au personnage de l'ilustrateur anglais Martin Handford, le fameux Charlie, de la série "Où est Charlie".
