"En 1992, après leur spectacle au CERN Hardronic Festival, mon collègue Tim Berners-Lee me demanda de lui procurer quelques photos scannées de « filles du CERN » pour les publier sur une espèce de système d'information qu'il venait d'inventer, et qu'il appelait World Wide Web. Je n'avais qu'une idée nébuleuse de ce dont il s'agissait, mais je lui ai scanné ses photos sur mon Mac et les ai envoyées par FTP à l'adresse, maintenant célèbre, de Tim, info.cern.ch. Comment aurais-je pu savoir que j'étais en train de franchir un cap historique, puisque la photo en question fut la toute première image à se faire cliquer dans un navigateur web!"

"Back in 1992, after their show at the CERN Hardronic Festival, my colleague Tim Berners-Lee asked me for a few scanned photos of "the CERN girls" to publish them on some sort of information system he had just invented, called the "World Wide Web". I had only a vague idea of what that was, but I scanned some photos on my Mac and FTPed them to Tim's now famous "info.cern.ch". How was I to know that I was passing an historical milestone, as the one above was the first picture ever to be clicked on in a web browser!"

The SkyTran system operates with individual, two-passenger vehicles, which are propelled and suspended by a Maglev system from overhead guideways.
Individual vehicles are capable of speeds up to 160 kilometres per hour within city limits or 240 kilometres per hour between cities. A very short braking distance allows a distance between traveling vehicles of a mere 25 metres.
