Human Rocket Jet Man Crosses English Channel - Fusion Man Traverse La Manche avec une Aile à Réaction

Le pilote suisse Yves Rossy, dit "Fusion Man", a réussi, vendredi 26 septembre, sa tentative de traversée de La Manche entre Calais et Douvres avec une aile en carbone fixée sur son dos et munie de quatre réacteurs.

Fusion Man a couvert les 35 km qui séparent la France de l'Angleterre en une dizaine de minutes, la vitesse atteinte étant de l'ordre de 200 km/h, avant d'atterrir dans un champ, côté anglais, après avoir déployé un parachute.




Yves Rossy, aka "Jet Man", flew across the English Channel strapped to a single jet-powered wing, with only a helmet and flight suit for protection.

The 22-mile (35-kilometer) France-to-England journey took 13 minutes.

The Swiss airline pilot cruised at speeds of over 125 miles an hour and steered by just moving his head and back.

Yves Rossy said he wanted to show, "it is possible to fly, a little bit, like a bird".

Amazon Swim Attempt by Martin Strel

Martin Strel, un nageur de marathon Slovène, détenteur de trois records dans le livre Guinness des Records (descente du Danube sur 3000 km, descentes complètes du Mississippi et du Yangtsé) vient de se lancer un nouveau défi: l'Amazon Swim

Projet qui consiste à descendre l'Amazone à la nage depuis Atalaya au Perou, jusqu'à son embouchure sur l'Océan Atlantique à Belém au Brésil.

Il prévoit de nager les 5430 km en 70 jours!

Il vient de s'élancer le 1er février sur ce fleuve au débit monstrueux, peuplé de Piranhas, crocodiles, anacondas et autres candiru (poisson vampire), avec l'espoir d'attirer l'attention sur la préservation de la forêt Amazonienne.

Il souhaite aussi promouvoir l'usage de la télémédecine pour les endroits isolés.

Swimming all the way from Atalaya (Peru) to the Atlantic Ocean at Belém (Brazil).

He is planning to complete the 3,375 mile adventure in 70 days!

Martin Strel has just started his new adventure on February 1st, ready to face the Amazon's enormous flow, inhabited by piranhas, crocodiles, anacondas and candiru (vampire fish).

"He has dedicated this swim to the preservation of the rainforest, to raising awareness for Alzheimer´s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, and to promoting telemedicine as a valuable tool in bringing modern medicine to remote areas".

Premiere exploration humaine de la partie centrale de la Cordillere Darwin - First human exploration of the Central Part of the Cordillera Darwin

L'explorateur Franco-Suisse Christian Clot vient de réaliser la première exploration de la partie centrale de la Cordillère Darwin, située à l'ouest de la Grande Ile de la Terre de Feu, à l'extrême sud du Chili.

Il reste encore sur notre planète quelques rares régions inexplorées et Christian Clot, membre de la "Société des Explorateurs Français", vient de terminer l'expédition "Ultima Cordillera 2006", une aventure sur des terres vierges qui s'est déroulée en deux parties:

Une première en Mars 2006 en compagnie de Karine Meuzard consacrée aux études scientifiques et la seconde, en solitaire, sur la partie inexplorée de la Cordillère Darwin.

Christian Clot, a Franco-Swiss explorer, just realized the first exploration of the central part of the Cordillera Darwin, located in the southwestern part of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego at the extreme southern shore of Chile.

There are still a few unexplored areas on the globe and Christian Clot, a member of "The French Explorers Society" has just finished "Ultima Cordillera 2006", an expedition throughout virgin lands that took place in two parts:

The first one in March 2006 with Karine Meuzard, dedicated to scientific studies and the second one, single-handed, in the unexplored central part of Cordillera Darwin.
