Scaled Composites, a signé un accord de coopération avec la
NASA pour le développement de technologies concernant les vols spatiaux habités.
A ce jour, le
SpaceShipOne est allé par trois fois à des altitudes supérieures à 100km (voir photo ci-dessous).
Le
SpaceShipTwo, en cours de développement, transportera
6 passagers et
2 pilotes à une vitesse maximale d'environ
4000 km/h. Le vol aura une durée de deux heures et demi.
Les decollages se feront dans un premier temps au
Mojave Spaceport en Californie et par la suite, au
Spaceport America au Nouveau-Mexique.
Une autre base de décollage est prévue en Europe au
Spaceport Sweden, à Kiruna, en Suède.
Le prix du vol est fixé à
200000 $ US.

NASA on future technology cooperation.
Until now,
SpaceShipOne made three flights into Space with altitudes greater than 100 km during 2004, culminating with
Ansari X Prize winning flight.(see photo below)
SpaceShipTwo, still in development, will carry
6 passengers and
2 pilots and will reach
Mach 3.
The suborbital flight time will be about 2.5 hours.
Initial flights will be launched from
Mojave Spaceport in the Mojave Desert, California. The following flights will be from
Spaceport America, Virgin Galactic's new spaceport and operational headquarters, located in New Mexico.
Spaceport Sweden will give future customers the opportunity to fly from a European base.
The Space ticket will cost
